Welcome to Westwood Elementary.  Westwood was established in 1989 and soon will be celebrating its 20 year anniversary of academic excellence.  It is located at the corner ot NW 9th and Irvindale.  Westwood  provides Pre-Kindergarten - 5th Grade services.  There are currently 644 students enrolled with an additional 73 staff to serve these students.  Principal Jim Ford oversees our building. 

Westwood Elementary, in partnership with students, staff, parents, and the community will ensure that all students acquire and use knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to meet the academic and social challenges of today and tomorrow.  We want to provide a strong academic and social foundation that affords all of our children to be great contributors to our ever changing world.  We deliver a high quality curriculum through a variety of instructional strategies. Teachers use multiple assessments as we strive to provide quality instruction at the level that every child can achieve success.

We believe that strong character development is also essential in providing a quality education.  We stress trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship along with being able to problem solve through peaceful dialogue.  Our partnership between home and school is another critical piece for our children.  Open communication is encouraged in this partnership.

Westwood Elementary offers a variety of services in Special Education, Talented & Gifted, English as a Second Language and additional literacy support.  We are excited about the opportunity to work with you and your children.  We also invite you to get involved through volunteering, special committees and PTO.  Westwood is a great place to learn and grow.  Join us in building our leaders of tomorrow.
